Musical Projects I Am Fond Of

NOTICE: (may/will sound condesending if you alr know this)

An album is something to experience at least twice.
Some albums may have some songs that jump out at you as impressive upon first listen.
If so, that’s great!

Regardless, properly absorbing and understanding an album requires listening to it twice or more.
Not necessarily in quick succession, just ever, at all, really.

NOTICE 2:

I am mildly aware of Naked Flames being Problematic Contents/Media and I Dont Give A Shit
He Makes Incredible Music

YAYAYI - YAYAYI

A fantastic “double album”, of sorts.

The first half is a disorienting glitch hop mess, one could describe it as “good music to smoke to”
I like it a good lot though, even though I dont listen to it as much as the second half

Also VERTICAL is cut in half on the bandcamp version for some reason, and I quite like what the second half has to offer so I’d rec finding a version where there’s either two VERTICAL tracks or VERTICAL is in the 40 minute range

The second half comprises of remixes of various bling-era rap tracks, and it scratches all the same spots Lil Ugly Mane’s Mista Thug Isolation did, but harder
I saw an rym comment saying “this must be what tentacle ear brain sex feels like” and I’d say that’s accurate

YAYAYI - 999%

Glitch Hop compilation that comprises of:

I’ve seen comparisons to Flying Lotus and while I can see the similarities (they’re both marked as taking place in the LA beat scene) I’d have to say they’re quite different

Probably “good weed music” but I think it can easily be enjoyed without that

Dean Blunt - Black Metal

No one knows how to define this album genre-ly but it’s like Keystone Dean Blunt

Dean Blunt and Joanne Robertson’s vocals are nice and mellow, as is Dean’s production

The A-side is comforting like a blanket, primarily consisting of guitar samples for the instrumentals
The B-side is just really chill, meditative
Idk how to describe the C and D sides besides that they differ decently from the A-side

If you want more like the A-side check out Black Metal 2
It’s neat, but it doesn’t have the variety appeal Black Metal has to me

Dean Blunt - The Narcissist II

A mellow and melancholic tape in the classic Dean Blunt style.

Incidentally found this by looking for albums similar to The Ghost~Pop Tape.

Opener is very strong and I’d recommend this album just for that.

Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland - The Attitude Era

A lovely variety collection of lo-fi noises, songs, and experiences.
Has the “Hypnagogic Pop” tag on RYM.

VERCVERDICT: very GOOD!

Bug Bus Piano - Jurassic Period Dishwasher

Very obscure, only know about it because a few people in a community I’m in quite like this album
That, and the album cover’s awesome

A light massage on the eardrums.
